Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and what you control. Your trades are yours: we don't sell data, show ads, or ask for your broker login.
Who we are
In short: we keep the data you put into your journal so the journal works, we rank you on the Mountain using one anonymous number, and you can export or delete your data.
Wick Journal (wickjournal.com) is a trading journal for prop firm futures traders. It is operated by Wick Labs, LLC, Kent, Washington, USA ("we", "us"). We decide how your data is used, so we are responsible for it.
Questions about this policy or your data: hello@wickjournal.com.
What we collect
We only collect what you give us and what we need to run the app.
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Account: first and last name, email, username, password | Create your account, sign you in, send account emails. Passwords are stored as a one-way hash, never in plain text. | Until you delete your account |
| Trades: symbol, entry and exit times and prices, size, side, P&L, fees, notes, tags | Your journal, analytics and calendar | Until you delete them or your account |
| Prop-firm accounts: firm, account number, type, balances, profit target, max drawdown, status, timezone | Track each account and rank Evaluation and Funded accounts on the Mountain | Until you delete them or your account |
| Day notes | Your daily journal notes | Until you delete them or your account |
| Imports: file name, row counts, row errors, and a record of which trades were imported | Show your import history and stop the same trade being imported twice. The CSV file itself is read once and not stored. | Until you delete your account |
| Template requests: the header row of a CSV you ask us to support, and the platform name you type | Build import templates for more platforms. Never the trade rows. | Until you delete your account |
| Subscription: plan, status, billing dates, and whether you got a launch price | Give you the access you paid for and keep your launch price | Until you delete your account |
| Launch-price record: your account number and which launch price you got (nothing else) | Keep an accurate count of the limited launch-price seats | Kept after you delete your account |
| How you found us (for example, the social channel whose link you followed) | Understand which channels bring traders | Kept after you delete your account, without anything that identifies you |
| Settings: display timezone, email preference | Show times your way | Until you delete your account |
| Session: a sign-in cookie and a record of each active session | Keep you signed in, and let you sign out everywhere | Up to 7 days, or until you log out |
| IP address and browser details on each request | Security and rate limiting (for example, slowing down password guessing) | Not stored with your account; short-lived security logs only |
| Waitlist (before launch): email and date | Tell early sign-ups when we opened | Kept as a record of our early users; ask us to remove yours |
If you subscribe, you pay through our payment and subscription providers. They collect your card details and billing address directly; we never see or store your full card number. We keep your plan, subscription status and billing dates so we know what you have access to, and delete them with your account. Our providers keep their own payment records as the law requires.
The Mountain
The Mountain ranks traders against each other. To do that without exposing anyone:
- Only recently active Evaluation and Funded accounts count. Personal and archived accounts never do.
- We turn each trader's results into an anonymous performance score.
- The ranking stores only those scores. It has no names, usernames, emails, account numbers or trades.
- Other traders see percentiles and positions, never who you are or what you traded.
What we never do
- We don't sell or rent your data.
- We don't show ads or use advertising or tracking pixels.
- We don't ask for your broker or prop-firm login. Imports are files you choose to upload.
- We don't share your trades with prop firms, brokers or other traders.
Service providers
A few companies help us run Wick Journal. They process data only to provide their service to us.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers store and serve the app and your data.
- An email delivery provider sends account emails.
- Payment and subscription providers take payments, manage subscriptions and send billing emails and receipts. They receive your account ID and the payment details you give them at checkout.
- Content delivery networks serve the fonts, icons and charting code our pages use. Your browser contacts them directly, so they receive your IP address and browser details.
We may disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect our users and the service.
Cookies & browser storage
We use one cookie: a secure, HTTP-only sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in for up to 7 days. There are no analytics or advertising cookies.
The app also saves a few things in your browser, which never leave your device unless you send them:
- The CSV column mappings you confirmed, so the next import of the same file layout is automatic.
- A short-lived copy of the prop-firm presets list.
- The last page you had open in the app, for the current tab only.
- Which of our links brought you to the site, until you sign up.
Emails
We send account emails: email verification and password resets. We don't send marketing emails unless you opt in.
Storage & security
Data is stored in North America and may be served from data centers in other countries. Everything travels over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed, sessions can be revoked, and sign-in is protected against abuse.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we'll tell you without undue delay.
Keeping & deleting data
We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete trades, notes and accounts at any time in the app.
- Export: download all your trades as a CSV from Settings.
- Delete your account: in the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. Your account and all of its data are deleted immediately and can't be recovered. We email you a confirmation.
- Backups: backups are kept for up to 30 days, so deleted data fully disappears within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- show you the data we hold about you, or give you a copy;
- correct it (your name is editable in Settings);
- delete it;
- stop or limit a particular use of it.
Email hello@wickjournal.com and we'll answer within 30 days.
Age
Wick Journal is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger.
Changes & contact
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also email you before they take effect.
